CPP Kickstart-2
The CPP Kickstart-2 (Finn. CPP Potkustart-2) also CPP Kickstart II, or simply the Kickstart, was a P-Fleet starship featured in the core Star Wreck series.
Description[edit | edit source]
The CPP Kickstart-2 is a P-Fleet CPP-1701 class cruiser. It's designation signifies that it is the second starship to bear the name 'Kickstart'.
Service record[edit | edit source]
After the destruction of the USS Kickstart some time in 2363, James B. Pirk and the rest of its surviving crew were assigned with a new ship, the CPP Kickstart-2, which was docked at a P-Fleet space station in the vicinity of Fibula Sector. Another individual - Joe Hummer - had also been assigned to the crew, to the position of Captain Trainee.
For the next two years, the Kickstart had been doing various assignments, the crew getting used to the new controls. On Moondate 12.Delta-by-Pi-are-square the Kickstart encountered the CPP Relevant, and accidentally destroyed it, suspecting it to have been taken over by an unknown enemy force, an assumption proven wrong too late. After the incident the Kickstart flew to P-Fleet Space Station 13, where Captain Trainee Hummer - now promoted to full Captain - left the crew.
Two days later, the Kickstart received an encoded priority message from P-Fleet Command, ordering the ship to the Vega system, to investigate a Romuclan base there. Learning of the Romuclan's plans to attack P-Fleet's Gamma Sector outpost, the Kickstart reported to Command, and was ordered to Gamma Sector, but denied reinforcements on grounds that the information was unconfirmed. However, once a large Romuclan fleet had indeed arrived into the system, the Kickstart was ordered to engage the enemy, being promised reinforcements that had soon arrived, led by Captain Hummer. During the battle, the Kickstart split into its Battle and Saucer sections, with the Battle section being commanded by Pirk, and the Saucer section being relegated to Ensign Fukov, who ended up perishing in the fight. Pirk then commandeered Hummer's Saucer section, commanding a full ship once more, and destroying the remaining Romuclan vessel. After the battle, Pirk was promoted to Admiral.
A year later, the Kickstart visited Vulgarus, where Commander Spook retired from service, and Earth, where the Kickstart's crew had been refreshed. Leaving the Earth-orbiting space station, the Kickstart was assigned to a diplomatic mission: to make first contact with a mysterious alien race known as the Zarquons, and secure an alliance with them. Along the way, the Kickstart responded to a distress call from the CPP Dubious, which came under attack by a Plingon Buzzard. After a short fight the Buzzard fled and the Dubious succumbed to the damage it was dealt, and was destroyed, with no survivors. The Kickstart continued its mission and joined the Kilpailu - a contest organised by the Zarquons, to determine who is most worthy of alliance. While initially successful, the Kickstart was ultimately outmatched by the notorious space pirate Hans Duo and his crew, who were also participating in the Kilpailu. The loss in the Kilpailu, and of the Zarquon sceptre, which the contestants were meant to retrieve, got Pirk demoted back to Captain.
After flying to Earth for the trial, and spending a week there, the Kickstart was back in service and ordered to help in the war that the Zarquons had declared on P-Republic. Along the way it was discovered that the refits to the Kickstart were using a trial version of the mainframe OS, and so the Kickstart flew back to Earth, to get a cracker patch. Along the way it ran afoul of a Romuclan Warturkey, whose Captain was out for revenge after the Gamma Sector battle. Winning the encounter in the last moment, the Kickstart continued its journey, got the patch, and returned to its duties.
Four years later, the Korg had attacked Earth, and the Kickstart, which was orbiting the Trippie homeworld at the time, was ordered to assist in the defence effort. Arriving to the system, the Kickstart joined the fight and emerged victorious, as the sole P-Fleet ship left standing, but it turned out that the battle was not yet over, as the Korg had launched a probe into Earth's past, seeking to prevent First Contact between humanity and the Vulgars, and effectively take over the planet, changing history. The Kickstart followed the Korg through time, where its away team fought the invaders on the planet's surface. The initial Korg plan being thwarted forced the Korg to initiate Plan B, which involved the hostile takeover of the Kickstart, and the prevention of First Contact from orbit. This plan had also failed when Pirk initiated the Kickstart's remote self-destruct, blowing the ship up, and killing the remaining Korg.

Trivia[edit | edit source]
- The CPP Kickstart-2 is a parody of the USS Enterprise (NCC-1701-D) from Star Trek The Next Generation., however, it is not a direct parody, as several details differ.
- The adventures of the Kickstart-2 were adapted to cinema in-universe.
- In the Star Wreck RPG the Kickstart-2 is identified as a 'Galaxy class' ship, alongside the CPP Scrapiron, which is incorrect given that the ship's class is 'CPP-1701', as stated by Info in episode 5. Since the mainline series' canon is superior to the RPG's canon, the Scrapiron is the only known 'Galaxy class' ship in the franchise, as it is only identified by the RPG and is a different design to the Kickstart-2.
- According to Info, a CPP-1701 class cruiser has a survival rate against a Korg Box of .0000392.
